wow.  what a whirlwind we’ve been through since may.  we packed up everything and moved across the country.  (when i say across, i really do mean it!  hello, pacific northwest!) it is nice to finally be settled and back into the “groove” of things.  and by groove, i mean my ocd self is happy and content to know where everything in the house is again. i’ll be playing catch-up on my blog for the next few weeks, so i hope you enjoy the backlog of the recipes that i have created over the past few months!  fall is on the way, and i’m eager to make soups and lots of apple-based dishes.  so let’s get going on these spring and summer recipes to make way for fall! i have a go-to key lime pie...

peaches n’ cream oatmeal cookies...

i’m a true foodie.  i watched “cooking for real” with sunny anderson on foodnetwork that featured this recipe wayyyyyy back in 2008.  i’ve been thinking about making these cookies ever since.  i finally did it today!  i should have started making these cookies much sooner.  they remind me of my favorite flavor of instant oatmeal: peaches n’ cream.  just as an fyi, this recipe easily doubles. 3/4 c all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp baking soda pinch salt 1 stick butter, softened 1/4 c light brown sugar 1/4 c dark brown sugar 1/4 c sugar 1 egg 1 1/2 c rolled oats (use the old-fashioned) 1/2 c chopped dried peaches 1/2 c chopped pecans 1/2 c white chocolate chips preheat oven to 350°. in a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt.  in a stand...

crème brûlée

crème brûlée is about as perfect as dessert can get. i had never had crème brûlée until our recent trip to cincinnati. we ate at jeff ruby’s and it was so heavenly, i decided that i needed to figure out how to make it!  i picked up a crème brûlée torch set from bed, bath & beyond, butane from meijers, and was on my way to making the recipe below. i hope that you enjoy it! 2 c heavy cream 1/4 c sugar 1 pinch salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (don’t use the kind with alcohol in it, the flavor isn’t as good.) 4 egg yolks (save the whites and make a healthy omelette to make up for the crème brûlée!) 4 tbsp white or brown sugar preheat the oven to 300° bring a...
