valentine’s day 2011 was our second as a married couple.  it was a great one…  even if i busted a candy thermometer, while attempting to make funnel cakes.

we had a great time all weekend and celebrated the official day with a shrimp pasta dish.  (coming soon!)   tom thinks that valentine’s day is celebrated everyday at our house.  i think he’s right.

i made him a card.  it wasn’t pink or flowery or covered with hearts or glitter.  it’s tom.  i created a cardstock keyboard fashioned after his macbook , with a romantic twist.  here’s what you’ll need:

• 1 sheet 12″ x 12″ blue card stock, for card
• 1 sheet 12″ x 12″ grey card stock, for keyboard base
• 1 sheet 12″ x 12″ black card stock, for keys
• silver pen
• sharpies
• adhesive runner
• corner rounder
• ruler
• paper trimmer

1. use a paper trimmer to cut strips of black card stock into 3/4″ strips and cut the strips into various sizes for keys.
2. letter the keys, using a silver pen and attach to grey card stock.  omit i,l,o,v,e and u.  trim the card stock around the keyboard and round the corners.
3. fold the blue card stock in half and attach the grey keyboard to the front.
4. attach remaining keys inside of the card.  personalize as you’d like to.
5. give card to the love of your life.

one of my favorite things to do in my freetime (other than to cook) is to be crafty.  i enjoy scrapbooking and cardmaking.  this is a baby shower invitation that i created for my nephew’s baby shower.

items needed:

• bazzill card stock with linen texture,  in fern
• plain white cardstock
• craft essentials paper crafting ribbon, in pistachio
• font: girls are weird
• graphics: monica maslack
• envelope: great papers!   5 1/2″ x 7 1/2″ in powder blue
